The instruction and presentations will be lively, informative, and entertaining for all. Our workshops are a great way to bond with family or friends and are excellent for team-building opportunities.
Holiday Bubble Glazing & Wine Workshop
Sunday, November 17 & Sunday December 1 | Suttons Bay Tasting Room | 1 PM
Gather your girlfriends, mothers, or daughters and come to our Suttons Bay tasting room for an enjoyable afternoon of bubble glazing complemented by exquisite wine. Bubble glazing is a simple technique that’s easy to master and yields stunning results, providing you the perfect opportunity to create something special while enjoying the beauty of wine country.
In this fun and interactive class, you’ll choose five pre-made pottery ornaments and learn how to apply Stephanie’s unique bubble glaze technique from Leelanau Pottery Co. Your five ornaments will be ready for collection within seven days of being finished in the studio. You can either pick them up at Black Star Farms in Suttons Bay or arrange for shipping with Stephanie. Each ornament will be beautifully wrapped in an organza bag, making it a thoughtful gift made with love for the holiday season.
Your ticket includes a glass of wine along with the lesson and materials.
Wine & Chocolate Tasting Workshop

Discover the delectable pairing of wine and chocolate in a tasting experience like no other during this engaging workshop. You will explore the many wonders of the cherished cocoa bean alongside the owner of Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate, a local favorite since 2004.
This is your chance to indulge in our award-winning wines crafted from our own vineyards, perfectly complemented by thoughtfully selected chocolates, all within a lively and educational atmosphere. Plus, this event is a great opportunity to check off some holiday shopping from your list because who wouldn’t appreciate the gift of wine and chocolate during the festive season?
Wine & Cheese Tasting Workshop

Join us in discovering a delightful selection of artisan cheeses from the United States and beyond as our knowledgeable guide from Leelanau Cheese Company takes you on a journey through various cheese-making styles, all perfectly complemented by the exquisite wines of Black Star Farms. This is your opportunity to awaken your taste buds to the enchanting world of wine and cheese pairings while gaining insights into these two beautifully intertwined crafts.
Each date will have a unique theme. So if you love wine & cheese as much as we do, you can attend them all!
Charcuterie Board Workshop
Saturdays, November 2 & 16 | 10 AM
Our catering Sous Chef, Leah Moerdyk, will demonstrate how to put together the perfect board with plenty of fun tips and tricks so you can bring a showstopping board to your next party.
Each attendee will leave with a lovely charcuterie board big enough to share with one or two friends, filled with gourmet cheeses, cured meat, nuts, crackers, fruits, veggies, and more.
$80 per person includes:
• Glass of wine or mimosa
• Wood board
• Cheese, cured meats, nuts, etc.
• Mini honey jar with wood dipper stick

Mozzarella Making Workshop

Learn the art of hand-stretched mozzarella! The skilled cheesemakers from Leelanau Cheese Company will demonstrate how to craft this satisfying fresh cheese from local milk and a handful of basic ingredients. The secrets of this gastronomical wonder will unfold as you learn to hand stretch curd and form bocconcini, string cheese, and delicate burrata.
After class, enjoy your mozzarella two ways with a meal including a fresh burrata salad and baked on a Neapolitan-style Margherita pizza from our wood-fired oven. In addition to the mozzarella you make in class, you’ll take home a rock-solid, repeatable recipe for home production. Tickets include one glass of wine. More wine may be purchased onsite for an additional cost.
