Testimonials
We have traveled the world, lived overseas, lived in several US states, and consider our stay at the Black Star Farms in the top 5. Room was outstanding, wine tasting unbelievable, wine was excellent, service impeccable, grounds were pristine, and food was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. David & Mitchell were beyond kind, polite, professional, and helpful. Fellow guests were a joy to chat with and the constellation on our room ceiling the “cherry” on the top.
Had an amazing romantic getaway with my husband. We wanted somewhere we could relax and spend some time together without leaving the property, and this was perfect. The restaurant on site meant we did not have to get in our car and drive anywhere. The Bistro was great for lunch and dinner. We had the pleasure of attending the Chef’s dinner on Friday which was a treat and the breakfasts were great. The happy hour was a nice touch and much better than some others we’ve been to. It is fun to sit and chat with the innkeepers and other guests for an hour while eating tasty bites and drinking a variety of wines. There are nature trails that we walked around daily, the wine tasting room and a live band one night that kept us entertained. Our room, Diadem, was so luxurious that I did not want to leave. A perfect mini vacation. Can’t wait to come back.
Black Star Farms service and stay was exemplary. From David as host, to Andrew as Chef, Larry’s pavlova, Michelle’s breakfasts, and Chris in the tasting room; all have a level of professionalism and service rarely seen today. The tasting menu at the Bistro was top-notch and we did not realize that was an option (our friends we were with had arranged it). Strongly recommend reaching out to the Bistro and inquiring – was truly on par with Cook’s House as far as quality of food and presentation. It was nice to get away from the hustle of TC and enjoy the Leelanau peninsula and Suttons Bay areas. We would love to return!
The Inn at Black Star Farms is truly a destination in and of itself. We stayed in the Mira for 3 nights and cannot say enough about the amenities. We could have stayed a week with the nicely supplied kitchen and the extra room to spread out. The bed was very comfortable, and the inn and surroundings were so quiet that we got great sleep. We appreciated the extra bright vanity light in the bathroom, the ample closet & drawer space, and the easy access to our car for loading and unloading. The property also included 3 miles of walking trails that made it so convenient to go for a morning or evening walk in beautiful surroundings. The breakfasts were phenomenal and the coffee outside our door each morning was such a nice touch. We looked forward to the wine and snacks each night as well. The innkeepers, David & Mitchell, made us feel welcomed and like valued guests. The inn was a great place to return to after a day of touring the wine country and the beautiful towns in this part of MI.
