Must-Try New Release

Can you believe it’s already August? Summer seems to be flying by, but they say time flies when you’re having fun, and there’s certainly no shortage of fun at Black Star Farms! It seems that a new vintage of BSF wine is being released every month and what’s more fun than trying a new wine?

This month, we are excited to announce the release of our 2020 Arcturos Late Harvest Pinot Gris! This is only the second bottling of this wine; the first was a small run in 2012. The fruit was sourced exclusively from the Montaña Rusa Vineyard that borders our Old Mission Peninsula tasting room. We produced just over 300 cases of this long-awaited wine.

This is a must-try, especially for our sweet wine lovers! The aromatics perk up the senses with freshly cut apples, orange zest, and wet beach stone. Flavors of honeydew melon are prominent, along with notes of starfruit and honey. The balance of sweetness and acidity allows for a rich mouthfeel without being too heavy-sweet yet refreshing!

Because of its delicate nature, we recommend pairing this wine with foods of a similar flavor profile. It is an excellent choice for cheese and fruit plates, harmonizing exceptionally well with brie and fresh Michigan peaches. Its sweeter profile will also pair nicely with dishes that possess some spice, like blackened walleye. For you dry-wine drinkers, consider enjoying it in place of dessert after dinner.
