Discover the Winter Season

February and March are the last months of winter in the Traverse City area, which make for a great time to visit Black Star Farms. We haven’t quite made it to those warm and sunny days of spring and summer yet, but if you are looking for a more relaxed experience and a winter adventure, we have some ideas in mind.

Join us at one of our tasting room locations on any weekday to experience a more focused and personal approach to tasting. Our servers will help you select new wines, ciders or spirits to try!

If you are looking for an overnight getaway, there is still time to book a winter vacation at the Inn at Black Star Farms. Our unique retreat books quickly in the summer and fall, so winter is a great time to take that special trip you’ve been planning, at a little less cost. Through April, you can take advantage of special pricing with our Winter Escape Package. With amenities like complimentary wine tasting in our Barrel Room, gourmet breakfast, nightly hospitality hour with wine and hors d’oeuvres, and access to our sauna and recreational trails, a stay at the Inn during the snowy months is a peaceful and luxurious escape.

While visiting the area, consider taking advantage of the fresh, powdery snow by engaging in an array of outdoor activities. There are many nearby trails for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and fat biking, including our own on our 160-acre Suttons Bay estate. Of course, we love our trails that meander through forest, orchards, and vineyards, but listed below are a few of our other favorite places to explore that are just minutes away.

For those looking to wine and dine, we offer cozy culinary experiences with our Weekend Dinners at the Inn on select Saturdays through April. These intimate, 3-course, prix-fixe dinners include a glass of wine and are a great way to get a peek inside the Inn.

Another opportunity to experience our area’s fantastic food scene at an affordable price is with Traverse City Restaurant Week happening February 23 – February 29. 40 local restaurants will be offering 3-course meals for $25-$35 per person. We still have availability at our Inn during the week, so book your stay to take advantage of these great winter deals.
